I’ m a big fan of the classy cocktail. It is the only alcoholic drink I really enjoy the taste of and not to mention they look so pretty. I’m always on the hunt for chic bars to grab a cocktail and have a night with the gang. That is why I was ecstatic when I came across sketch in Mayfair, London whilst scrolling through Instagram one day.
This ultra chic bar in the heart of London town, has been featured on shows such as my ultimate fave, Made in Chelsea and definitely deserves its central London spot.
From the very first step inside, the venue never ceased to amaze me. The decor was beyond impressive with intricate details, a separate theme for each room.
The Gallery: open for dinner and afternoon tea. I fell in love with this room. It had such a soft Parisian feel and the colour had me tickled pink!
The Parlour: this is open for food all day until cocktail time in the evening. I have to admit I never did see this room. The secretive, curious nature of the dining halls in sketch meant we missed this one out.
Lecture Room and Library: this is sketch’s very own two Michelin star gastronomic restaurant. Unfortunately, as a couple of university students, we did not have the luxury of a meal in this room but one day!
The Glade: open for breakfast, afternoon tea, comfort food and cocktails. This was the room we indulged in some magical cocktails. Boasting a mystical forest theme, this room was my favourite. Quite intimate with dimmed lighting, it was the perfect spot for an evening drink with friends or a pre dinner beverage.
Finally, a post about sketch can’t be justified without giving a special mention to its bathrooms. This may seem strange but believe me you will agree once you take a look at this magnificent space themed room.
These white pods and colour blocked roof was the thing all of us were most excited to see. I don’t think four people have ever been so excited to go to the bathroom before!
The white pods contain toilets with a double stair case leading up to the platform on which they are held. The experience continues whilst inside the pods with space radio talk playing in the background. This bathroom was the most astonishing thing I have ever seen and aside from the delicious cocktail, made the whole trip worth it!
The dress code for the bar varies depending on occasion and room but for The Glade we got away with casual clothing.
Open 7 days a week, this spot tucked away in the streets of Mayfair not only provides great service and excellent cocktails, it creates an experience I have not encountered in any other bar around the world.
It is a must do. I promise you won’t regret it!
