Sister of the infamous, widely controversial Kim Kardashian and daughter of business mogul and ultimate stage mom Kris, Kendall Jenner definitely did not have a long hard struggle in her quest to become a household name but is it fair to say she has earned star status in her own right or is she just an overrated source of celeb gossip riding on the coat tails of her famous family?
The eldest of the Jenner sisters, Kendall has spent her whole existence in the public eye, a normal up bringing the farthest thing from what she experienced. From a young age, viewers watched her express her interest in the model industry and saw the hunger in her mother’s eyes as she made it her mission to gain the leggy brunette a seat in the hall of supermodel fame among the likes of Naomi Campbell and Janice Dickinson.
And to some extent the formidable, fame-hungry character that is Kris Jenner, succeeded in her operation and secured Kendall firmly in the pockets of the fashion industry, holding hands with big names like Chanel and Karl Lagerfeld. She was following the latest trend of emerging celebrity offspring and was welcomed into the club with open arms by model besties Cara Delevingne and Gigi Hadid both of whom reign from influential, well-known families who similarly spoon fed their children success mixed in with expensive caviar and washed down with a glass of Moet champagne.
Granted, Kendall is a stunning girl with a very pretty face but there is nothing outrageously unique which sets her apart from the average pretty girls you see working at the till in Abercrombie, let alone any features that give her the right to walk in the biggest fashion shows of the year and be hand picked by some of the best designers in the industry. In fact she is more of a plain Jane than anything else who finds herself lost in the shadow of her notoriously loud siblings. I don’t know about you but I definitely smell a rat and that rat comes in the form of the Kardashian name that Ms. Jenner carries around behind her like a glowing beacon.
Cara has the eyebrows, Gigi has Zayn Malik so what is it that Kendall holds on to for support in the big pool that is Hollywood? Her family, the world famous, iconic, ridiculously entertaining family that earned its fame on the back of one daughter’s sex tape and celebrity friends. This was her ticket to the big time. Kendall walks in a show, the whole klan show up with millions of paparazzi and social media followers right behind them. Kendall is a circulation tool which the fashion industry exploit for all its worth. As posed in the famous quote from Romeo and Juliet, you may be reading this and asking, “What’s in a name?” but let me tell you millions of dollars and global recognition are firmly embedded in this name and the industry professionals are most certainly exploring that theory to its full potential.
So all in all, it is safe to say that Kendall Jenner is a massively over rated publicity stunt taking the fashion world by storm. There is no doubt she is a successful gal but it’s got, by no means, anything to do with the individual person she is. With nothing standout about her and no real gossip worthy antics, this supermodel is super overdone.
